Orthodontic treatment for

Orthodontic treatment to facilitate restoration of small, worn down and/or damaged teeth.

Adult patients who have a misaligned bite, where the upper and lower front teeth are biting edge-to-edge, may progressively develop shorter teeth. When the bite is misaligned, there is insufficient space to restore the worn-down teeth. Orthodontic treatment re-organises the bite, providing clearance to enable the teeth to be built up as necessary. Appropriate lengthening of the teeth restores function and provides a patient with a youthful smile together with optimal facial and dental aesthetics.

A patient presented with severely worn upper and lower front teeth. Often a curve develops over time where the upper front teeth are higher than the back teeth, referred to Curve of Spee. The orthodontic treatment re-organised the bite, levelled the Curve of Spee and provided adequate clearance between the upper and lower front teeth to enable the teeth to be built-up as necessary.

Patient presented with tooth surface loss in the upper and lower front teeth, an asymmetric bite and uneven and asymmetric gum margins at the upper front teeth. The upper and lower front teeth were leaning backwards. The orthodontic treatment balanced the bite between the left and the right sides by bringing the teeth on the lower right quadrant forwards. The upper and lower teeth front were also brought forwards so that their inclination was corrected and provided our patient with a fuller smile. The gum margins of the upper front teeth were levelled and made symmetrical between the left and the right sides. At the end of the orthodontic treatment, space was created between the upper and lower front teeth to allow for the upper and lower front teeth to be restored to their ideal sizes and restore the wear the front teeth had sustained. The restorative work was done by the very skilled Dr Adam Slade, Smile Architect, 111 Harley Street, London, W1G 6AW http://www.smilearchitect.co.uk
