Patient's family was concerned about the severe crowding in the upper and lower dental arches. The upper dental arch was very narrow and this lead to insufficient space for the eruption of the upper canines which caused their impaction. Widening of the upper dental arch was carried out with a view to providing this young patient with a "wider" and "fuller" smile, as well as creating space to accommodate all the teeth without the need for the loss/extraction of any permanent teeth.
