The patient presented with an incorrect bite at the front teeth resulting in severe wear at the upper and lower front teeth which appeared short with broken edges. Lengthening and restoring the teeth was not possible due to the incorrect bite and the lack of space in-between the teeth. There was a curve between the front and the back teeth whereby the front teeth were much higher up than the back teeth in both the upper and lower jaws. This is called the Curve of Spee.
Upper and lower fixed braces were used for 12 months to correct the bite at the front teeth and provide space for the front teeth to be restored to their original dimensions. The Curve of Spee was flattened to improve the bite and provided optimum smile aesthetics. The patient was able to smile again with confidence.
