Patient presented with an open bite at the front teeth and increased gum show on smiling. The orthodontic treatment corrected her bite with fixed appliances and mini-implants to intrude the back teeth into the bone. Patient was already concerned about the increased gum show on smiling, so any kind of orthodontic tooth movements to correct her bite were aimed at pulling the back teeth into the bone as opposed to extruding the front teeth which would have increased the gum show patient displayed. The patients open bite was corrected whilst achieving ideal gum show on smiling and the rest.
